Registration of the ILF as a Charitable Trust – new Board Chair
The Irrawaddy Literary Festival has now taken the important step of becoming a UK-registered Charitable Trust (Charity Commission number 1168517). The Board of Trustees believes that the festival’s governance structure, as a Charitable Trust, is a significant and accurate reflection of the inclusive, not-for-profit ethos and objectives which inspired the Festival’s creation. The decision to seek registration was approved by founding patron, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and finalised on 29th July 2016.
The Board of Trustees includes the founders of the Irrawaddy Literary Festival, Andrew and Jane Heyn, and a new Board Chair, Jennie Orchard.
