Thweep ‘Ake’ Rittinaphakorn is an independent scholar whose work focuses on textiles and woven material in relation to history of mainland Southeast Asia, particularly Burma and Thailand. He is also curator of the Siam Society textiles collection. His research work on the development of Shan & Burmese elites costumes during the late 19th – mid-20th centuries was presented at the annual conference of the Association of Asian Studies in 2014, 2016, and 2019 both in the USA and in Thailand. Over the past decade, he has been conducting a thoroughgoing study of Burmese tapestry woven textiles Luntaya Acheik and Burmese fashion history. His research has been published in Textiles Asia Journal and Arts of Asia magazine.
